Alia Bhatt starrer Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 trailer gets over 6 million ‘dislikes’ on YouTube within 24 hours of premiere.

Within hours of its premiere on YouTube, the Sadak 2 trailer got over 1.3 million dislikes, making it one of the most disliked tailer on the video streaming site. The film Sadak 2 releases on Disney Hotstar VIP on August 28.

As against 1.3 million dislikes, the trailer got less than 1 lakh ‘likes’.

Earlier in the day, the VHP sought legal action against the Mahesh Bhatt film for hurting Hindu sentiments. The movie starring Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur, revolves around the protagonist’s encounter with a “fake Sadhu”. Basically Alia’s character in the movie is out to expose a fake guru and his ashram. Sanjay Dutt’s character will help Alia in ‘exposing’ the Baba.

Notably, last month, at the time of its release, the poster of Sadak 2 had run into controversy. A complaint was filed before a court in Muzaffarpur in Bihar against the filmmakers for hurting Hindu sentiments.

However, the trailer does not seem to have gone down too well for the audience.

India’s leading actor Amitabh Bachchan used the social media late on Saturday to announce he is Covid-19 positive. His actor-son Abhishek tweeted he too had tested positive. Rumours began around 9.30 pm about Bachchan being admitted to Nanavati Hospital, which is close to his Juhu home.

While Nanavati is now mainly a Covid hospital, Bachchan has been visiting it over the years for his routine checkups; his family doctor is a consultant in the hospital.

Amitabh, whose various hospitalisations in July 1982 and December 2005 have been closely followed by his fans, has been vocal about his ailments, including tuberculosis and Hepatitis B. On Saturday, Nanavati Hospital spokesperson confirmed that Bachchan got admitted late in the evening. “He is undergoing a series of tests,” he said.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said the actor is asymptomatic and stable.

GSEB HSC Arts and Commerce Result 2020 Date Announced | The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) announced the results of Arts and Commerce of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations on its website early this morning (Monday, 15 June).

Students who appeared for these exams can check their scores on the official site of GSEB at gseb.org. More details are expected at 8 am.

Here is how you can check your GSEB HSC result online:

Step 1: Visit the official website of Gujarat board — www.gseb.org

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link that says 'GSEB Results 2020 for Arts and Commerce'

Step 3: Fill seat number at the result page

Step 4: Hit 'submit' button

Step 5: Your GSEB Results 2020 for Arts and Commerce 2020 will appear online

Step 6: Download the results and take a print out for future references

Alternatively, if the official website is slow or not responsive, students can get their score on their mobile phone via SMS and through websites such as examresults.net, results.nic.in and indiaresults.com.

The Class 12 Arts and Commerce streams examinations were held between 5 to 21 March 2020. But the result was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A candidate must obtain a minimum of grade ‘D’ to be eligible for higher Secondary Certificate in all subjects. Those candidates who have obtained grade ‘E1’ or ‘E2’ in the subjects of External Examination can clear the HSC exam after subsequent attempts and qualify.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 struck 122 km north-northwest (NNW) of Rajkot, Gujarat at 8:13 pm today: National Center for Seismology. NCS after a review has ascertained that magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5 on the Richter scale. It was a four-second long earthquake.

EXHIBITORS RECOMMEND TO PLAY THEIR FILM FOR FREE.... Theaters to reopen soon, Yash Raj Films, Reliance Entertainment, Warner Bros.

Most parts of the world are now gradually lifting down the Coronavirus-induced lockdown and India is no exception. And as businesses and non-essential shops resume their operations, the theatres too are now next on the list. In some places like UAE, Estonia, Denmark, Switzerland etc. theatres have already started. New Zealand, which has been hailed for going 100% ‘virus free’ is also all set to follow suit. Now all eyes are on India and if sources are to be believed, the cinema halls might get permission to restart next month.

However, the question that emerges is will audiences flock as soon as the theatre opens its gates? For the first 1 or maybe a couple of months, there might not be a new release. In such a scenario, cinema halls will be compelled to show older films. And few studios have already approached exhibitors with generous offers and assurances. Akshaye Rathi, film exhibitor and distributor, reveals, “Entities like Yash Raj Films (YRF), Reliance Entertainment and Warner Bros are all coming together and making their slate of films from the past available to exhibitors. Some of them have even gone to the extent of saying that they don’t want any money out of this. The theatres just have to bear the courier charges, which is a negligible amount. They emphasized that we exhibitors should even show movies for free, if need be. Basically, they want us to re-cultivate the habit of going back to cinemas. It’s pretty heartening to see that all these studios have the mindset to think beyond the next quarter or the next revenue that will come in.”

Akshaye Rathi further adds, “Reliance has so many of these Rohit Shetty films under their banner from Singham series to Simmba to Golmaal Again. Reliance has already offered the possibility of a Rohit Shetty week. Similarly, YRF has very successful Salman Khan starrers like Ek Tha Tiger, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Besides, YRF also has some phenomenal action films like Tiger series, War, Dhoom franchise etc. Likewise, Warner Bros is a studio that has been around since nearly a century and they too are laced with excellent content, whether it is the films they have done with Christopher Nolan or some of the memorable horror films or romcoms. So all these studios have such a rich slate of content that there’s a lot of possibility around curating festivals or curating weeks out of those. Warner Bros in fact has gone ahead and curated packages themselves on behalf of exhibitors.”

Raj Bansal, the owner of Entertainment Paradise theatre in Jaipur, lists out the film that he feels should be showcased, “The exhibitors should try to re-release Sholay, Mughal-E-Azam, Hera Pheri, A Wednesday etc. The pricing, however, should be very lucrative. The apprehension of the audiences can be washed away to some extent if the pricing is correct.” He’s also in favour of giving audiences a chance to watch 2 films at the price of 1 ticket. “That way, we can sell two tickets in one go,” he says. Sandeep Jain, an exhibitor from Indore and Bhopal, meanwhile states, “We’ll try our best to show films that have worked in the past like Baahubali. We’ll also play these movies at reduced rates.”

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, “Baahubali is a film that people have watched and you don’t mind watching it again. If at all the government gives the green signal, we have to wait and watch what the exhibitors plan to do. I am very curious what they showcasing would be.” He also adds, “There are certain films which have tremendous recall value. You might not expect Andaz Apna Apna to work in a mass belt, but yes, you never know! Baahubali, on the other hand, is a universal film.”

Over the years, Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri have become two of the most popular films thanks to their hilarious memes. Today coincidentally is also the 14th anniversary of Phir Hera Pheri. The various dialogues and one-liners of the series have been used in millions of situations and most of the memes guarantee laughter for sure. Today it has reached a phase where even its ordinary dialogues like ‘Paisa Laaya’ have become meme worthy! Also, both films have achieved cult status, especially among the youth. Many sadly never saw the film in cinemas and might jump at the opportunity of watching it on the big screen. Also, there would be expected, collective laughter in theatres when these meme-worthy dialogues will be mouthed by the character of the films. Raj Bansal feels it’s a good idea and says, “People will definitely laugh on these dialogues, which have turned into memes. Not to forget, Phir Hera Pheri is one of the most successful sequels ever. The same goes for Munnabhai. People are waiting for both Hera Pheri 3 and Munnabhai 3 but unfortunately, they haven’t been made yet.”

However, a section of experts also feel that audiences might not be so enthusiastic. Trade analyst Atul Mohan explains, “If you can get to see a film for free at home, why on earth would you spend money to see a film in theatre? At one point, repeat run was a norm for hit films. But now times have changed and also, today’s generation is different. Agreed that people are bored sitting at home but will they put their life to risk? Even then, they’ll rather wait for new releases and biggies like ’83 and Sooryavanshi and not for older flicks.” Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Bihar, echoes the same sentiment, “For the masses, to spend Rs. 100-150 on a single ticket on a film which they can anytime watch on TV or on the internet doesn’t make sense.”

Atul Mohan also points out, “In Dubai, theatres have started and are showing older films. And you won’t believe, there were not even 200 moviegoers on a weekday in multiplexes and 500 in weekends. Earlier, they used to get 500 people in just 2 shows and now they are getting the same number of people in all even after playing 15 shows. And not to forget, the number of cases in UAE has also been quite less. Meanwhile, in India, cases are increasing daily” He then adds, “Many people have also faced job losses or salary cuts. In such a situation, will they utilize their savings to buy essential supplies or to watch old films in cinemas?”

Vishek Chauhan then makes an interesting observation by citing an example, “James Cameron’s Avatar had released long back. Then, my cinema hall was not 3D compatible. But later when we upgraded, we re-released Avatar in 3D in a free week. It did really well. Similarly, when Titanic re-released in 3D in 2012, it made sense to have a re-run. So there has to be a value addition. So Hera Pheri aise hi laga diya toh matlab nahi banta hai. But now if you can come up with a Hera Pheri’s director’s cut; for instance, a version with 15 minutes of additional footage which Priyadarshan wanted to keep but couldn’t, to keep the duration in check. That’s value addition and that might attract masses. I agree Hera Pheri memes are very popular but you need to give audiences something extra to pull them to cinemas”

Taran Adarsh meanwhile tells, “The most important thing right now for everyone is survival – bringing their life back on track, paying the bills, looking after the needs of the families etc. These necessities take precedence over everything else. Entertainment will not feature in the list of most people right now. Of course, there would be a few people that might want to go to a cinema hall to watch a film but it depends on the film. A lot of films have come on OTT platforms or have been aired on satellite television.”

As of now, it’ll be a wait-and-watch situation. The overall mood will be visible over a few weeks once malls and restaurants open up and whether the general public visit it in large numbers or prefer to stay away from them. Based on them, perhaps, one can get some idea if theatres too will receive adequate footfalls. Akshaye Rathi is confident and praises the studios that are in support of theatre owners. He says, “We need to applaud companies like YRF and Reliance. Their money is stuck in films ready for release. For example, Reliance’s ’83 and Sooryavanshi are complete and would have been released by now. Despite the situation, a company like Reliance is standing by exhibitors and looking at the future of the ecosystem. Same goes for YRF and yet, even they are supporting the exhibitors. I can say without a shred of the doubt that the support of these entities will be reciprocated by the exhibitors. I hope more studios like them have the ability to think of the long term scenario”.

Sandeep Jain however has a doubt in mind, “Re-releasing a film depends on the producers and if they are willing to let us show their films. Even if they give their films, they should not ask for a high price. Then, that will be detrimental.” When reminded about the unconditional support given by YRF and Reliance, he says, “It’s good if they have made such a claim. But then, they should re-release their films not just in PVR’s of Mumbai but also in single screens in the interiors.” Taran Adarsh is sure everyone will come together to help and signs off by saying, “I am sure the distributors will lend a helping hand to the exhibitors.”

Carry Minati is back after a long hiatus and for all his fans, it was worth the wait! The Indian YouTuber has released his rap song Yalgaar thereby hitting back at those who targeted him.

Popular Indian YouTuber Carry Minati has been grabbing headlines for some time and all of us know the reason behind the same. Carry aka Ajay Nager had shared a roast video titled YouTube vs TikTok that instantly went viral. However, the video was taken down by the streaming giant after claiming that it has violated YouTube’s terms of service. This was followed by many other controversies that included people lashing out at the YouTuber for targeting certain sections of society.

However, according to a few people, the video was taken down because Carry had taken a jibe at Amir Siddiqui, a popular TikTok user. Needless to say, the YouTuber himself expressed his anguish about the same through Instagram a few days back. Now, after a long hiatus, Carry Minati is back and this time it’s not a roast video but a rap song ‘Yalgaar.’ He begins the video with his iconic dialogue ‘Toh Kaise Hai Aap Log.’ Post that begins the pouring out of his emotions in the form of a rap song.

The song starts with ‘Ek Kahaani Hai Jo Sabko Sunani Hai’ and post that Carry narrates his version of the story and how people targeted him and tried to stop him in various ways. He once again takes an indirect jibe at Amir Siddiqui and calls him out for playing the victim card. The YouTuber also lashes out at a few other people who have betrayed him. He ends the video with ‘Carry Roast Karega’ tags meaning it’s showtime again.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan may not have released a film this Eid, but he is all set to make a splash in the FMCG space. The actor announced the launch of the brand FRSH late last night on twitter.

Catering to the personal care and personal hygiene space, FRSH has rolled out its first set of products in the hand sanitiser space. With 72 percent alcohol content, the actor has made available different pack sizes for the hand sanitiser category. The company is offering launch discounts on its website. A 100 ml bottle of FRSH is available at Rs 40 in this launch phase.

"We will soon be rolling out deodorants, body wipes and perfumes at affordable prices," said Salman Khan in a video posted on Twitter.

Interestingly, this product launch has been done in partnership with Scentials World. FRSH is a joint venture with Scentials — a company focusing on celebrity-led beauty brands. Last year, Bollywood actor Lara Dutta launched her skincare brand 'Arias' in partnership with Scentials. Arias has also launched sanitiser spray and hand sanitisers.

This is not Salman Khan's first foray into the retail space. He has launched several products in the clothing, fitness equipment, e-cycle, jewellery space under the brand 'Being Human.'

FRSH will first be launched online before being available at stores. "Coming soon to a store near you," says Salman Khan as he signs off.

The Night Is Dark And Full Of Errors In New Netflix Series | WELLCARE | HARDIK CHAUHAN

A remote village becomes the arena of a breathless battle when an undead East India Company officer and his battalion of zombie redcoats attack a squad of modern-day soldiers.

“What is dead may never die.”

This majestic line from Game of Thrones sums up the new Netflix series, presented by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, that is oscillating in between a jump-scare zombie show and a profound comment on corporate greed and neo-colonialism. In the end, it remains nothing more than a convoluted mess.

A special task force named the Baaz Squad, led by a dynamic officer Tyagi (Suchitra Pillai), has been deployed in the interiors of Chhattisgarh to set the area free from the Naxal clutches as the government has given a go-ahead for a highway. The second-in-command Vikram Sirohi (Viineet Kumar Singh) and his deputy Ahluwalia (Ahana Kumra), along with the team, reach at the zero ground to realise that it has more to hide than reveal.

Initially, directors Patrick Graham (Ghoul) and Nikhil Mahajan, want to show Betaal as a cursed tale of tribals and how they have become the guinea pigs for corrupt practices in the name of developments. In fact, they go to the extent of suggesting a line made of turmeric and ash to stop the evil. It might be a metaphor for homegrown solutions, but it looks absolutely funny the way it appears on screen.

The absurdities don’t stop there as Tyagi keeps switching between the human and zombie modes without much provocation. Jitendra Joshi’s all powerful contractor seems as confused as the audience as to where to stop sounding clueless. The attempt to bring magical realism into play does more harm than good, so much so that the only character which makes sense is that of a half-dead British colonel bizarrely whispering ‘come to me’ in Singh’s ears. On second thoughts, that would have been a better option!

Whenever the show tries to add dimensions, it becomes funnier, like the moment anybody starts taking orders from the corrupt seniors, their hair turn white. Who said OTTs treat the audience’s intelligence differently than the traditional films?

The makers are really angry with the fallacies of the liberal economy as they keep hurling abuses at the capitalist demons without actually knowing their actual face. I don’t know how the viewers would react in the time when most of us are actually trying to live off minimal resources under lockdown!

There are a couple of bright performances though—Viineet Kumar Singh and Manjari Pupala (Puniya). However, they are totally betrayed by the structure of the show which never lets them rise above the obvious. The idea of mixing money induced slavery and zombie apocalypse turns out to be a disaster. You may not be able to enjoy zombie shows for a while after watching Betaal.

Let’s give credit where it’s due. Betaal has some really good jolters, but you’re likely to overlook them in order to make sense of the story. Despite only 4 episodes of around 45-minutes each, Betaal would force you to wish for Vikram, of the old DD show, not the one played by Singh. Please come and get this guy off our shoulders.

LOCKDOWN 4.0 GUIDELINES GUJARAT CM VIJAY RUPANI | गुजरात में क्या रहेगा ...

The Gujarat government on Monday issued guidelines for the fourth phase of lockdown, announcing that the state will have containment and non-containment zones, with only essential services allowed in the former.

While schools, colleges, shopping malls and gyms will remain closed, as directed in the MHA guidelines, barber shops and salons have been allowed to open in non-containment zones, announced Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

He further annonced that restaurants can open, but only home delivery of food will be allowed. "Restaurants can open but only for home delivery of food. The food delivery agents must have a health card. Restaurants on highways can be open but social distancing to be maintained," he said.

Rupani had said on Sunday that Gujarat will be divided into containment and non-containment zones, and economic activities will be allowed in non-containment zones in the state during the extended lockdown period as the per the Centre's guidelines.

He said that people not wearing masks and those spitting in public places will be fined Rs 200 for the violations.

Gujarat has so far reported over 11,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus along with over 650 deaths.

When you drive down winding roads in Ladakh, you often see creative signposts that keep you entertained when the drive gets pretty nauseous. The warning lines flashing on-screen during Malang serve a similar purpose. In this drug-fuelled revenge saga, every time someone snorts, injects or puffs, there’s a warning in the corner of the screen: “Don’t be insane, drugs ruin the brain”, “Addicts don’t get old, they die young”, “drugs cost more than just money”, and my favourite, “Nashe ki maar barbaad kare aadmi aur parivaar (drugs ruin you and your family)”. These lines are often more engrossing and funny than all the over-the-top drama in the film.

The film opens with a chiselled Aditya Roy Kapur doing pull-ups and then makes his way out of the cell and single-handedly pulps fellow prisoners for a really long time. This machismo is only the beginning of all the ‘mard’ and ‘naamard’ (emasculated) sentiment lying at the core of this film. Every character is on their own trip, committing violent acts in Goa for a variety of reasons, of which the most unsatisfactory ones are the big reveals. Sara (Disha Patani), a free-spirited NRI cliché, who comes to Goa for a cheaper version of Eat Pray Love, is caught in a murderous misunderstanding. All she wanted was the answer to the big mystery of life: “Tumhe sukoon chahiye ya mazaa? (Do you want peace or love?)” and go from “one high to another”. But she ends up getting pregnant after doing “wild wild with a stranger” (a euphemism for sex), and ultimately finds sukoon in, well, Christmas. So the present day and some of the flashback takes place over Christmas Eve, when there is a carnival, a football match in a stadium and Goan villagers running on a bridge after Christmas mass, all in the same evening.

As stretched and basic the first half is, the second half goes all out to prove you wrong – no matter the logic. The high-pitched aesthetics of this film (rife with filmmaker Mohit Suri’s favourite visuals of things falling from the sky in slow-motion) can be overlooked but what is most bothersome is the unsubstantiated violence that rises from strange notions of misogyny and masculinity. Sexual violence and male commitment phobia are ascribed to traumatic childhoods and women exist only to be raped, take revenge or be the motivation for revenge.

Is it too much to ask for filmmakers and writers to refrain from using rape and sexual violence as plot devices in thrillers? Strip the film of all its “style” and you end up with an archaic revenge drama that is made more ridiculous by obvious misunderstandings. At points the film seems to be made just so Kapur and Patani can show off their sculpted bodies and market GoPro cameras on beaches that look more Mauritius than Goa.
