प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने लॉकडाउन 3 मई तक बढ़ाने की घोषणा की है. राष्ट्र के नाम अपने संबोधन में प्रधानमंत्री ने इसकी घोषणा की. उन्होंने कहा है कि भारत कोरोना के ख़िलाफ़ आगे और लड़ाई कैसे लड़े इसे लेकर राज्यों के साथ निरंतर चर्चा हुई है. उसमें हर किसी की ओर से यही सुझाव आया है कि लॉकडाउन को बढ़ाया जाए. सारे सुझावों को ध्यान में रखते हुए यह तय किया गया है कि 3 मई तक लॉकडाउन को बढ़ाया जा रहा है. उन्होंने कहा, "लॉकडाउन की वजह से भारत अब तक कोरोना के नुक़सान को टालने में सफल रहा है. मैं जानता हूँ कि आपको कितने दिक़्क़तें आई हैं. किसी को खाने-पीने की परेशानी किसी को आने जाने की परेशानी. लेकिन आप अनुशासित सिपाही की तरह देश का कर्त्तव्य निभा रहे हैं." उन्होंने आगे कहा, "सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग और लॉकडाउन का बहुत बड़ा लाभ मिला है. आर्थिक दृष्टि से यह महंगा ज़रूर लगता है लेकिन भारतवासियों की ज़िंदगी के सामने ये ज़्यादा नहीं.". इस दौरान उन्होंने सात ज़रूरी बातों का ज़िक्र किया. बुज़ुर्गों का ज़्यादा ध्यान रखें, लॉकडाउन, सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का पालन करें, इम्युनिटी बढ़ाने से जुड़े निर्देशों का पालन करें, आरोग्य सेतु मोबाइल ऐप का इस्तेमाल करें, जितना हो सके, गरीब परिवारों का ख़्याल रखें, किसी को नौकरी से ना निकालें और कोरोना योद्धाओं का गौरव बढ़ाएं.

NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3. In his address to the nation this morning, PM Modi said in some areas which are outside of Covid-19 hotspots, some conditional relaxations to resume important activities could be given after April 20. Some state governments like Punjab, Odisha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu have already extended the lockdown on their own.

Among the eccentrics and cult personalities in the stranger-than-fiction world of big cat owners, few stand out more than Joe Exotic, a mulleted, gun-toting polygamist and country western singer who presides over an Oklahoma roadside zoo. Charismatic but misguided, Joe and an unbelievable cast of characters including drug kingpins, conmen, and cult leaders all share a passion for big cats, and the status and attention their dangerous menageries garner. But things take a dark turn when Carole Baskin, an animal activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary, threatens to put them out of business, stoking a rivalry that eventually leads to Joe’s arrest for a murder-for-hire plot, and reveals a twisted tale where the only thing more dangerous than a big cat is its owner.

After a reportedly 4-hour-long meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief ministers of various states, the broad consensus was that India will have to stay at home for two more weeks as the country tries to stem a coronavirus outbreak that has claimed over 200 lives and infected more than 7,000 people on last count.
The lockdown, effective March 25, is supposed to end on April 14. The prime minister in his interaction stressed on the need to not only to save lives, but livelihoods too by underlining the motto of ‘jaan hai to jahaan hai’ [when you have life, you have the world]. A majority of the states at the meeting were for extending the lockdown .
The national lockdown that was expected to end on April 14 is likely to be extended by another two weeks. This was indicated in a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau which said that the suggestion came from the chief ministers in their meeting with the PM to strategise how to tackle COVID-19. Following the meeting, Maharashtra has extended the ongoing lockdown to April 30, 2020. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray made the announcement, following states such as Odisha and Punjab, who have already announced an extension a few days ago. While the Centre is yet to make a formal announcement, the PIB release said, "Prime Minister observed that the combined effort of the Centre and the States has definitely helped reduce the impact of COVID-19 but since the situation is rapidly evolving, constant vigilance is paramount." The release added PM Modi emphasised how the coming three to four weeks were critical for "determining the impact of the steps taken till now to contain the virus.". It also mentioned an "exit plan" discussed by the PM and said, "there seems to be a consensus amongst the states on extension of Lockdown by another two weeks." Chief Ministers of various states including Karnataka, Delhi and West Bengal have held press briefings, hinting that an extension is in the pipeline. In a live address, Thackeray explained that he supported the extension of the lockdown and discussed the same with Modi. "Maharashtra will continue to remain locked down till April 30," he said and added, "There could be some places where these restrictions could be eased but there will also be some areas where this will be strengthened even more." West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also hinted at an extension of the lockdown in their states and said that they were not in support of ending the lockdown on April 14. Both states are yet to make a formal announcement of an extension.

Shah Rukh Khan donates to several charities amid Coronavirus pandemic, announces key initiatives to extend his support
Shah Rukh Khan’s group companies, Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX announced several initiatives to support the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Ministers Arvind Kejriwal and Udhav Thackeray in its COVID-19 fight.
Shah Rukh Khan said, "Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference. The efforts of our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji coupled with the efforts of the Chief Ministers, Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji, Smt Mamata Banerjee, Shri Arvind Kejriwal and all other States and Union Territories leaders have been commendable in fighting this pandemic. We have initially focused our efforts on the three cities - Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi with the realization that this is a start and we stand ready to contribute in whichever way possible going forward”
Adding further, SRK states, "At a time when the human race is facing an immense crisis, there can only be one true response: The expression of Humanity itself.
This is a moment for all of us to come together in a collective effort to make each other kinder, stronger and braver to face the days ahead.
This crisis is not going to pass in a hurry, it will take its time and its toll on all of us. It will also show us that there isn’t really a choice between looking out for ourselves and looking out for one another. There’s nothing more obvious in the spread of this pandemic, than the fact that each one of us is inextricably connected to each other, without any distinction.
So, while we do whatever we can to support each other in our own small ways, the compassion we show to those who are likely to face the most brutal brunt of both, the pandemic and its economic consequences, will define us as a generation and as a Nation.
The scourge we are up against, is fearsome and unknown to us. Like all uncharted paths, our journey to overcome every new challenge it throws at us will be arduous. There will be times when the best intentions might yield the wrong results. There may also be times when we accidentally stumble upon important solutions. All we can really do is try our utmost to adapt and confront each challenge with courage.
As a nation, and as a people, it is our duty to give it all we’ve got. I am going to try my best and I know each one of you will do so too. Only together we will be able to fight through these difficult and unimaginable days.

Several key initiatives include help to daily wage earners, hospital staff among others. The statement further reads, "In an effort to ensure that the basic necessities reach many who are being deprived of it in these trying times, the funds allocated will be distributed amongst the following partners. The aim is to not only provide relief during the pandemic but also help raise awareness about COVID-19 and encourage more people to come forward and help.
1. PM - Cares Fund: Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL franchise co-owned by Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla Mehta and Jay Mehta has committed to contributing to the PM Cares Fund
2. Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund: Red Chillies Entertainment owned by Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan has committed to contributing to the Maharashtra CM’s Relief Fund
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Healthcare Providers: Supporting and protecting the health care workers is of paramount importance. They are the real heroes who put their lives on the line everyday to protect us! KKR & Meer Foundation will work with the WB and the Maharashtra governments and contribute 50,000 PPE kits. They will also work to raise awareness to encourage other contributions
4. Ek Saath – The Earth foundation: Meer Foundation along with Ek Saath, will provide daily food requirements to over 5500 families for atleast a month in Mumbai. A kitchen will also be set-up to send out 2000 freshly cooked meals everyday to help households and hospitals whose daily needs aren’t being fulfilled
5. Roti Foundation: founded by Former Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Mr. D. Sivanandhan. During COVID-19, they have tied up with Mumbai Police and are providing meals to underprivileged people and daily wage labourers. Meer Foundation In association with Roti Foundation will provide 3 lakh meal kits with 10,000 people per day for atleast a month
6. Working People’s Charter: Meer Foundation in association with them will provide basic essentials and grocery items for at least a month to over 2500 daily wage workers who have been identified across Delhi

7. Support for acid attack survivors: Meer Foundation to provide a monthly stipend to over 100 acid attack survivors which will take care of their basic needs. The survivors identified are across UP, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and Uttarakhand

Shah Rukh Khan is the latest celebrity to contribute to several charities in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
"People from all walks of life expressed their desire to donate to India's war against Covid-19. Respecting that spirit, the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund has been constituted. This will go a long way in creating a healthier India," the Prime Minister tweeted. The coronavirus outbreak has already infected over 900 people in the country besides claiming 19 lives.
